Symphonic Metal

‘Power Dive’ is Voices of Destiny’s second album and is a good improvement over their first outing ‘From the Ashes’. Maike Holzmann has a very pretty voice, very gothic sounding, but at times it is just too gentle for the music. Lukas Palme on keyboards also adds vocal growls, which often is a better fit for their dark and sometimes brutal music than Maikes’.

The musicianship is of a good standard, with a more guitar based sound than a lot of symphonic metal bands. The song structures are better on this album and there is a definite improvement in the overall sound. This is a young band and they are growing and developing their sound, although they are not quite there yet, there is still plenty to like here.
